Konan

Bred in Germany in 1999 by Friedhelm and Jutta Rottgen, Konan has set the GLP standard in the UK.

His stunning good looks and breed type were recognised by winning Best Import Register ( All Breeds ) during his first year in the showring. He gained over 20 Best Import wins and Top Import Stud Dog 2004/05 . He is Top GLP Stud Dog 2004/5/6/7.

His Progeny include the first breed Top GLP Arany's Baiser (ex Bella vd Holzheide) 2006 who has A/A FT Awards and litter brother Buchse Top GLP 2007 and the first Crufts BOB in 2007/08. He has 7 FT Awards.

Afra ( ex Pia Nelha ) was Crufts Best Bitch 2007.

His grandaughter Arany's Etta mit Sarscottah became the first Crufts GLP Best Puppy in 2008.

During his Field Trial career he gained 7 Awards and 10 Open Working Test Firsts. At the Beta Working Tests he came 2nd and 4th.

He is an exceptional gamefinder with a hunting drive rarely seen in the UK, if there is game in front of him this dog will find it. Moorland, forest, hedgerow, woodland , wetlands or open fields , this dog hunts all types of terrain and will swim even on the coldest of days. Water work is where they excel.

On syndicated shooting days pricked running birds are his speciality and they come back head up too, these are soft mouthed retrievers. As a rough shooting companion his prowess in the field has given the guns days they will remember for years.

The willingness to please and hunting drive, the superb tracking instinct on wounded game, retrieving and water skills plus exceptional field work are all combined with the temperament of a family companion which makes this breed the best we have owned.

It has been an honour for us to work with this dog. He is and will remain Das Best in a lifetime.
